Website:  Lundy Island, North Devon
Address: http://www.lundyisland.co.uk

Lundy Island is a granite outcrop 400 feet above sea level and lies off the coast of North Devon, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Bristol Channel with nothing between it and America. Undisturbed by cars, the Island encompasses a small Village with an Inn, a Victorian church, and the 13th-century Marisco Castle. For nature-lovers there is a variety of wildlife, flora and fauna, with opportunities for diving and seal watching, as the waters around Lundy are a Marine Conservation Zone. During the summer months visitors are carried to Lundy on the Landmark Trust’s own vessel, MS Oldenburg, which sails from both Bideford and Ilfracombe. Car parking for the day, at very reasonable cost, can be found within the Riverbank Long Stay Car Park, a short walk from the Lundy Shore Office.

Visit: Bucks Mills, Bideford, North Devon; off the A39 Atlantic Highway

Bucks Mills is a small beautiful village that lies within the protection of Hartland Point, mid way between Clovelly to the west and Westward Ho! to the east; it faces north into Bideford Bay, overlooking Lundy Island and the Atlantic Ocean. The village lies along a steep valley consisting of whitewashed cottages leading down to the seashore; a hidden gem because of its inaccessibility; visitors are welcomed with a free car park from which there are several walks. Hobby Drive is a three-mile long paved drive through woodlands to Clovelly. Next to the village is Bucks Woods which includes the site of the Iron Age Hill Fort at Peppercombe Castle.

Quince Honey Farm produces honey from hives kept deep in the North Devon Countryside amongst the wild flowers from which the bees collect their sweet nectar and in August, when Exmoor turns purple, all the hives are moved up to the moors to collect the exquisite Exmoor Heather Honey. Visit their exhibition for a close-up view of the inner workings of honeybee society and shop for quality honey, honey based and natural beeswax products.
